Thank You from Earl & Anita

It is with very mixed emotion that we at Superior North Canoe Outfitters write this announcement. As most of you know the Ham Lake fire that happened in May 2007 burned out Superior-North. All of the buildings on the outfitting side are gone but the Sag Lake Store is still standing (thanks to the local Fire Department putting up a sprinkler system) although it did receive some smoke & water damage. Now the big question for Earl & Anita was do we rebuild or sell?

Believe me, this was a very hard decision. We so enjoyed Superior-North & all of our very good customers that we considered each and every one of you to be great friends. With the cost of rebuilding & of course Earl's age (we won't even talk about Anita's) maybe we should just retire. Things kind of got answered for us in August when we received an offer on the place from a person who wants to turn our land into a cabin resort & lodge. Now the question is what to do with our very good customers that want to take a wilderness trip? Since most of our business is canoeing Saganaga & Seagull Lake in the BWCA & Quetico Park in Canada, we talked to our neighbors Mike & Sue Prom at Voyageur Canoe Outfitters (VCO) to see if they would like to take care of our guests along with theirs. They said Yes! We have turned over our guest list to them. They are on the same road (1/2 mile north) from where Superior-North was located. Mike & Sue take care of the same general area that Superior-North did so we thought this would be the logical choice to take care of our customer's every need for their vacations. We hope very much that you will give them a try. Their contact information is listed below.

We would like to close with a big THANK YOU to each & every one of you for all the good times we have shared over the past 22 years. Jeannine will also miss talking with you at our winter office. She so enjoyed helping each of you set up & plan your wilderness adventure. We hope there are a lot of special memories of Superior-North in your heart & that you will make many more memories with VCO. Take care & our best to all of you.
